i failed.
it’s been more than three days without me writing anything here, even though i pledged to create a new post every day.
so, yeah. i failed. thrice.
but let’s not let that deter us from our goal, and let’s just start over.
in the meantime, here’s an idea on how to make the process friction-free.
prepare ideas for posts beforehand. this need not be some fancy “brainstorming session” or any of that bs. all i need to do is record ideas as they come by. the best part about this is that creating the list won’t feel like yet another task, which reduces the risk of it being left out.
each day, open my editor (nvim as of this writing) and just dive into the topic of the day. again, this reduces the friction and makes it much easier to start.
to be clear, i don’t expect each and every post here to be a masterp— do i expect any of the posts here to ever be considered a masterpiece? hell no, so let’s rewrite that.
to be clear, i don’t expect each and every post here to have any intrinsic value. the nature of this format and cadence ensures that a lot of the writing here will be of (very) low value. the quality might improve over time. it might just not. and i really hope that at least one or two posts here will be coherent and have enough information to be minimally useful. but this is not the goal of this website.
so let’s state the goal here as clearly as possible: write something every day. does that something have to be informative? fun(ny)? introspective? of any value at all? no, not really. the act of writing is, here, the ultimate goal, and not what comes out of it.
why? because if writing becomes a habit, and thinking in writing becomes another habit, they might eventually lead to developing the skill of writing pieces that are worthy of their reader’s time. but until then, i won’t take writing seriously, and i’ll make sure it stays a fun activity where i won’t shy away from experimenting and veering off-road often enough to learn something new.
if you are reading this and you’re not me, sorry for wasting your time (i’m not really, i never forced you to read it). this was absolutely not supposed to be read. it was only meant to be written, that’s it.
no, fu!!!
see you tomorrow.
