no matter on which side of the great pond you live, football is a very popular sport. for it is a great sport — whether the ball is sphere- or egg-shaped. each one of the footballs has its strengths and weaknesses, but the two sports share more than just a name: on big flaw is common to the two activities: they lack multi-modality.
wtf does that mean? i hear you ask. to put it simply: both sports are played on a single-terrain field: ground. but what if we introduce more diversity to the playing field, literally.
instead of using one single plot of land (covered in grass), we can divide the field into concentric circles alternating grassed parcels of land and 2-meter deep ponds. so depending on where the ball is, players would be playing either football or waterpolo.
think of it as a triathlon (biathlon?) but with a ball. this would not only help players develop a wide range of skills and capabilities but also offer the viewers a more diverse, entertaining sport to watch with their friends and family.
the game, waterball, would also require a large skillset from the players which that no single player would monopolize the ball and players would be much more collaborative.
that's what i call a win-win-win.
see you tomorrow.
