the path to gaining expertise in the fields i aim at mastering is to truly and faithfully embrace complexity.
when encountering something new, especially in an unfamiliar area, even the most basic concepts might seem out of reach, difficult to grasp. but that’s to be expected. the more complex the topic, the stronger this sensation of losing grip becomes.
the temptation to give up must be resisted, countered by a determined will to learn. let's not forget that the joy of understanding and mastering a subject far outweighs any discomfort faced during the learning process.
challenges arise not just at the beginning, but especially when i've ventured deep enough to start dabbling in the more intricate parts of the topic. this is where i often falter, because at that point, i have just enough knowledge to feel a sense of accomplishment. my hands aren't empty, and that gives me an excuse to quit.
but that’s not the right approach. i need to embrace complexity and welcome it, to rise above it. i must remember that rugged terrain is inevitable at every stage of the journey, and it will only get tougher as i advance. i need to be prepared to be harshly shaken, and that’s okay.
i must keep in mind that on the path to mastering any subject, i shouldn’t expect smooth sailing all the time. most importantly, it's okay to slow down and take my time through the rougher patches; that doesn't mean failure. in fact, that's exactly what should be expected.
let's embrace complexity and never fear it again. my mind shouldn’t retreat into laziness whenever it encounters concepts that seem beyond its current capabilities. that’s the essence of learning: to master what was once out of reach. otherwise, it wouldn’t be called learning, right?
let's embrace complexity.
see you tomorrow.
